HP Deskjet 3050A e-All-in-One Printer - J611a
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

Deskjet 3050A no longer printing from iPad or MacBook. The printer says its connected to wifi. I initially select the printer on my iPad but then it disappears. Reconnected printer, rebooted router, iPad and MacBook but still nothing.  Do not own a windows PC.  Any suggestions, I know the printer is old but I don't print much and its always been ok.

Hi @21ATU,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Troubleshooting printer connectivity issues can be a bit complex, but let's try some steps to resolve the problem.

Check Wi-Fi Connection:

  • Ensure that your iPad and MacBook are connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your HP Deskjet 3050A.
  • Confirm that the printer is indeed connected to the Wi-Fi network. Sometimes, printers may appear connected, but the connection may not be stable.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off both your iPad and MacBook, then turn them back on.
  • Restart your HP Deskjet 3050A.

Forget and Reconnect the Printer:

  • On your iPad, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, find your Wi-Fi network, tap the (i) icon, and choose "Forget This Network."
  • Reconnect to your Wi-Fi network and then try connecting to the printer again.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Deskjet 3050A. You can usually find this information on the HP support website.

Check Printer Queue:

  • On your MacBook, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your HP Deskjet 3050A from the list and check if there are any pending print jobs. Cancel or remove any stuck print jobs.

Reset Printing System (Mac):

  • In the Printers & Scanners preferences on your MacBook, right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers and choose "Reset printing system."
  • Re-add your HP Deskjet 3050A and try printing again.

Printer Software Update:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer software/drivers installed on your MacBook. Check the HP website for the latest drivers compatible with your printer model.

Remember that older printers may face compatibility issues with newer devices or operating system updates. If all else fails, it might be worth considering an upgrade to a more recent printer model that is better supported with the latest devices and technologies.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I think the printer is probably too old as I've tried everything else. Thanks
