Hello  - I am having a strange problem and was hoping someone might point me in some direction.  My printer appears to be connected to the wifi, the status light is on, the wifi indicator on the printer shows a connection, a test page prints the wifi name and IP address, and there is no problem reported on the network printout.  From every printer provided status mechanism, everything looks great.  However, when I go to print, the printer cannot be found on the network.

I can fix the problem by cycling the wifi with the wifi button on the printer.  This ALWAYS resolves the issue and I can print again.  However, after a few minutes (not exactly clear on how long) the printer disappears again. Anyone have a similar problem?  Is there any information on network settings that are expected for the printer to function properly.

Thanks!

Hi @Chilootz,

I'd like to help!

Try updating mac and printer firmware

To update the printer's firmware, refer - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

To update Mac, try these steps - How to update the software on your Mac

Perform a ping test to check the connectivity

1.        Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer

2.        On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box

3.        Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings

4.        Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost

5.        Note: There should be 0% packet loss, share the results in your next post.

Also, Add the AirPrint printer to the Mac printer queue

Confirm you are using AirPrint by adding the printer in System Preferences.

  1. Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

  2. Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, and then do one of the following steps.

    • If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm it is set up for AirPrint. Click the printer name, click the minus sign  to delete the printer, click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name and then continue to the next step.

    • If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, and then continue to the next step.

    • If your printer is not listed in the Add Printer or Scanner window, go to the Frequently asked questions in this document to resolve connection issues, try to add the printer again, and then continue to the next step.

  3. Confirm AirPrint or Secure AirPrint displays in the Use or Print Using menu, and then click Add.

Select AirPrint from the Use menu
  4. Open a document or photo, click File, and then click Print.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
