My wife bought a Mac Apple Air computer. She is part of the network, but cannot print from MY HP Office Jet 3830 printer. Can this be done or is the computer not compatible with Office jet 3830?
Thanks, Dave 813

Hi @Dave813,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Yes, it's possible to print from an Apple MacBook Air to an HP OfficeJet 3830 printer. Here are the general steps you can follow.
Ensure Both Devices are on the Same Network:
- Make sure that both the MacBook Air and the HP OfficeJet 3830 are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Install Printer Drivers:
- Ensure that the necessary printer drivers are installed on the MacBook Air. Sometimes, macOS will automatically detect and install the drivers, but you can also download them from the HP website if needed.
Add the Printer on macOS:
- Open "System Preferences" on the MacBook Air.
- Click on "Printers & Scanners."
- Click the "+" button to add a new printer.
- Select your HP OfficeJet 3830 from the list and click "Add."
Print a Test Page:
- After adding the printer, you can try printing a test page to confirm that the connection is working.
Check for Updates:
- Make sure both the MacBook Air and the HP OfficeJet 3830 have the latest firmware and software updates installed.
Troubleshoot Connection Issues:
- If you encounter any issues, check the Wi-Fi connection, and make sure the printer is turned on and connected to the network.
HP Smart App (Optional):
- You can also try using the HP Smart app, which is available for macOS. This app may provide additional features and ease of use.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
