Common problems for Connectivity Issues

HP ENVY 6055e All-in-One Printer

My ENVY 6055e suddenly shows that its status is "offline". I tried switching it off, resting it and switching it on again. No change. HP Smart tells me to switch on the printer. (It is already on, but HP Smart doesn't think so.) I've made no changes to any network, laptop or printer settings - though I would sure like to discover a stetting to change the printer status from "offline" to "online". Any ideas? Thank you. Daniel.

I understand you are facing an issue with the "offline" status issue. Here are some steps you can try to get your HP ENVY 6055e back online:

 

1. Check Printer Connection:

  • Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure your printer is still connected to your Wi-Fi network. You can print a network configuration page from the printer’s control panel to check the connection status.
  • Reconnect to Network: If the printer is not connected, reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network through the printer’s settings menu.

2. Restart Devices:

  • Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for about 60 seconds, and turn it back on.
  • Router/Modem: Restart your router/modem to refresh the network connection.
  • Computer: Restart your computer to ensure it’s properly connected to the network.

3. Check Printer Status on Your Computer:

  • Open Control Panel: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Printer Properties: Right-click on the HP ENVY 6055e and select See what’s printing.
  • Printer Status: Ensure that “Use Printer Offline” is not checked. If it is checked, uncheck it.

4. Update or Reinstall Printer Driver:

  • Update Driver: Go to Device Manager, find your printer under Printers, right-click on it, and select Update driver.
  • Reinstall Driver: If updating doesn’t work, uninstall the printer from Device Manager, then go to the HP website and download the latest driver for your model. Reinstall the driver.

5. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download Tool: Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • Run Diagnostics: This tool will diagnose and fix common printing and scanning problems.

6. Check HP Smart App Settings:

  • Update App: Make sure the HP Smart app is updated to the latest version.
  • Reconfigure Printer: Remove and then re-add the printer in the HP Smart app.

7. Network and Firewall Settings:

  • Firewall/Security Software: Check if any firewall or security software is blocking the printer connection. Temporarily disable it to see if it resolves the issue.
