HP ENVY 6065e All-in-One Printer

I have a new router. I am trying to link the printer to the new router. I have followed all of the various steps in all of the support docs several times and seem to be getting nowhere. Most of them step seem to be in greek. 😞

This should not require a computer science degree.

@DonScruggs, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

To connect your HP ENVY 6065e printer to a new router, follow these steps:

Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)

Use the WPS method if your router supports WPS.

Push Button (PBC) Method:

  1. Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer until the wireless light starts blinking (about three seconds).
  2. Press the WPS button on your router.
  3. The printer starts a two-minute timer to establish a wireless connection.

PIN Method:

  1. Press the Wireless button on the printer control panel to open the Wireless menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Wi-Fi Protected Setup and then PIN.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter the PIN on your router’s configuration page.

Traditional Wireless Connection

If the WPS method is not suitable for your setup, use the traditional wireless connection method.

Ensure you have the following:

  • A wireless 802.11b/g/n network with a wireless router or access point (using 2.4GHz).
  • A computer connected to the wireless network.
  • Network name (SSID) and password.

From the Home screen on the printer, touch the Wireless icon.

Touch Settings and then Wireless Setup Wizard.

Follow the prompts to select your network and enter the network password to connect the printer.

Changing from USB Connection to Wireless Network

If you initially set up the printer using a USB cable, you can switch to a wireless network connection.

  1. Ensure the printer is connected to your computer with the USB cable until prompted to disconnect the cable.
  2. Open the printer software on your computer:
    • Windows 8: Right-click on the Start screen, click All Apps, then click the printer’s name.
    • Windows 7, Vista, or XP: Click Start > All Programs > HP > HP ENVY 6065e series.
  3. Select Printer Setup & Software.
  4. Select Convert a USB connected printer to wireless and follow the on-screen instructions.

Tips for Setting Up and Using a Networked Printer

  • Ensure the wireless router is powered on.
  • To check the wireless connection status, touch the Wireless button on the printer control panel.
  • If your computer is connected to a VPN, disconnect from the VPN before setting up the printer.
