Hello, I wanted to change the EWS Admin password on the printer, somehow this did not work as planned.
Now I can't login anymore.
Have been searching all around to factory reset the Printer without any luck, tried most of the reset combinations but none seem to work.
I have reset the Network setttings, done a firmware update via usb without any luck.
Would be greatful for some help on this Topic.
Thank you

@fudini90, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it can be to get locked out of the EWS after a password change. Let’s try a few steps to help you regain access or reset the printer to factory defaults.

Option 1: Factory Reset via Printer Control Panel

You can try restoring the printer to its default settings directly from the control panel:

  1. Power on the printer.
  2. On the printer's control panel, press the Menu or Setup button.
  3. Navigate to:
System Setup > Service > Restore Defaults
  4. Confirm the reset when prompted.

This should reset all settings, including the EWS admin password.

Option 2: HP Smart App (if still connected to network)

If your printer is still visible in the HP Smart app:

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your PC or mobile.
  2. Select your printer > go to Advanced Settings (opens EWS).
  3. Navigate to Settings > Restore Defaults.
  4. Confirm the reset.

Note: If the EWS still asks for a password, this method may not work.

Option 3: Try the WPS PIN as Password

Sometimes the EWS password defaults to the WPS PIN:

  1. Print a Network Configuration Page:
    • Press and hold the Cancel and Wireless buttons for 5 seconds.
  2. Look for the WPS PIN on the printout.
  3. Try using that PIN as the EWS password.

I hope this helps.

Hi, thank you for the reply.
Sadly these options did not work.
Option 1: Service menu does not exist to select, therefore no restore defaults.
Option 2: EWS password is not known so can't access the advanced settings.

Option 3: The WPS Password did also not work even after pressing the Cancel + Wireless Button for 5 sec.
Is there any other way to reset the printer?

Thank you
