Hi @BigTex2008,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your HP ENVY Photo 7858 All-In-One Printer and are being prompted to use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to resolve it. The EWS is a web-based configuration tool that allows you to manage and troubleshoot your printer's settings. Here are some steps to help you use the EWS to diagnose and potentially resolve the problem.

  1. Connect to the EWS:

    • Ensure your printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network and turned on.
    • Find the printer's IP address. You can typically do this by printing a network configuration page from the printer or by checking your router's connected devices list.
    • Open a web browser on your computer or mobile device.
    • Enter the printer's IP address in the web browser's address bar and press Enter.
  2. Log In to the EWS:

    • The EWS login page should appear. You may need to enter a username and password. The default username and password are often "admin" and "admin," but you should consult your printer's manual or documentation to confirm or change these credentials if needed.
  3. Explore the EWS:

    • Once logged in, you'll have access to various settings and diagnostic tools to manage your printer.
    • You can check the printer's status, ink levels, and network settings in the EWS.
  4. Troubleshoot the Issue:

    • Look for any error messages or warnings in the EWS that may help you identify the problem.
    • Verify that your printer is set as the default printer on your computer or mobile device.
    • Ensure that your printer is online and not in an error state.
  5. Update Firmware (if necessary):

    • In the EWS, you may find an option to update the printer's firmware. This can sometimes resolve software-related issues.
  6. Network Configuration:

    • Check the network settings in the EWS to ensure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
    • You can also try restarting your router and printer to establish a fresh connection.
  7. Reinstall Printer Drivers:

    • If the problem persists, uninstall the printer drivers on your computer or mobile device, and then reinstall the latest drivers from the HP website.

By accessing the EWS, you can gather valuable information about your printer's status and configuration, which can help you diagnose and potentially resolve the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
