Hi. I have an Envy 6020E wireless printer which keeps dropping out from my network and displaying the blue flashing lights followed by an amber light. it keeps dropping out and reconnecting in a cycle. every now and then it will remain connected for a time before doing the same. I've moved the printer directly next to my wireless router (which is only a few months old) but still have this intermittent problem. I've tried resetting and reconnecting the printer and pressing the power and wireless buttons, letting it search for a network, until it times out (an online suggestion).
I've tried the diagnose and fix tool which showed no errors (when it was connected) and then showed that it was unable to
run any of it's checks when it was displaying the flashing lights.
Of course, it's out of warranty. Any suggestions ? It's currently connected and working again.

Hi @Shawn07,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It's frustrating to deal with intermittent connectivity issues, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem with your Envy 6020E wireless printer. Here are some suggestions.
Check Wireless Signal Strength:
- Ensure that the printer has a strong and stable Wi-Fi signal. Even though you moved it close to the router, it's worth checking the signal strength.
- In the printer settings or on the control panel, look for an option to view or check the wireless signal strength.
Update Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check the HP support website for firmware updates specific to your Envy 6020E model.
- Firmware updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can resolve connectivity issues.
Router Placement:
- Ensure that your wireless router is not placed in an area with interference or obstacles (walls, electronic devices). Try to place it in a central location for better coverage.
Channel Interference:
- Check if there are other electronic devices or routers using the same Wi-Fi channel. If so, consider changing the channel on your router to reduce interference.
- Most routers have an option to manually select a channel in their settings.
Reset Network Settings:
- On the printer, navigate to the wireless settings and reset the network settings. This will clear any saved network configurations and force the printer to reconnect.
Static IP Address:
- Assign a static IP address to your printer. This can sometimes prevent connection issues caused by dynamic IP address changes.
- You can set a static IP address through your router settings or on the printer itself.
Network Security:
- Ensure that your Wi-Fi network is secure with a strong password. Unauthorized access or interference can cause connectivity problems.
Driver Reinstallation:
- Uninstall the printer drivers from your computer and reinstall them. Make sure you download the latest drivers from the official HP website.
Remember to try these steps one at a time and test the printer after each step to see if the issue is resolved
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
