Common problems for Connectivity Issues

As of the end of July the printer has been unable to contact the HP Connector site. We have received reminder e-mails to enable the connection. It is connected through WiFi to an xFinity router, all other devices are communicating to the Internet on this network OK.  Devices can communicate with the printer but the printer seems unable to connect to the Internet.

I have read some suggestions online and tried a manual IP address (disabling DHCP to the printer), and trying the Google DNS address (8.8.8.8) manually, no change.

When I access the Network/HP Wireless Direct page on the printer, I get on the Mac "This website might be impersonating 10.0.0.220 to steal your personal of financial information, you should go back too the previous page".

Yesterday (8/13-21) on what I thought was an HP forum, I found a phone number to call ([Information Removed]).  The phone connection was very bad and it sounded like I was talking with an Indian accented person (which is not unusual for support). He referred me to the AnyDesk.app which I downloaded so that he could drive my laptop, he then proceeded to show me through Terminal a list of "Trojan Horse" items that were supposedly on my printer's web server, and offered to fix it if I paid him an amount by cc, at which time I aborted that conversation.  I have MalwareBytes on my Macs, which I assume would detect a Trojan, is there any way to check the validity / security of my printer OS?

I am able to print just br pressing "OK" on the printer warning message.  Is there a specific port that the printer uses to the Internet? I thought I could check the router to make sure that any update did not block this port, but I can't see any reference to a port on the Network tab.

Thanks,  Bruce.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
