Using new Macbook Air M5 laptop. Getting error message "Expired Certificate" when trying to print. Accessing my printer via EWS, I looked at my certficate and found that a new certificate had been created, but it was not valid until the next day.  I am now finding that my printer is spontaneously creating a new 5-year certificate every day.  Each time, I have to wait to print until the time that that certificate becomes valid.  I may only have a few hours to print before a new certificate is created and I have to wait until the next day for the time that certificate becomes valid.  This is driving me crazy.  Is there a way to turn this off?

Hi  @Blainecook1

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I can understand how challenging it must be when printing availability seems to depend on certificate timing. I'm glad you took the time to check the Embedded Web Server (EWS) and identify that the printer appears to be generating a new certificate daily. Let's work through this together.

To better understand what may be causing this behaviour, could you kindly share the following details?

  • Whether the printer's date and time are set automatically through the network or configured manually
  • If the issue occurs from all devices or only from your new MacBook Air M5 running macOS Tahoe
  • A screenshot of the "Expired Certificate" message, if available

In the meantime, kindly try the following steps:

  1. Verify the printer's date, time, and time zone settings from the EWS or printer control panel. An incorrect clock can cause certificate validity issues.
  2. Ensure the printer is running the latest firmware available for your model.
  3. Restart both the printer and your network router to refresh network services.
  4. On your Mac, remove the printer and add it again:
    • Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners
    • Remove the printer
    • Restart the Mac
    • Add the printer again using the recommended AirPrint or HP driver option
  5. Open the printer's EWS and check whether any security or certificate management settings have been customized.
  6. If available on your model, restore the network settings and reconnect the printer to the wireless network.
