Hi, I have the above error and I checked the previous post referring me to the instructions manual but did not solve my issue. 

I am unable to reset the device or do anything from the 'setup' since it is locked by the administrator (that's myself)! Not sure when I started having this issue but now, although I can ping my printer, I am just unable to get it set up via the HP Smart App. The HP Print and Scan Doctor cannot help too. Stuck with a white elephant on my desk now. Can someone care to suggest a fix ? Thanks!

Welcome to the HP Support Community

 

I understand you are getting an error message on your HP Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

 

We need to perform a semi-full reset to restore the printer back to its original settings.

 

The reset instructions are specific to your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device. 

 

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer. 

 

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.
