Hi, can anyone help me? I need the IP address of a relatively old printer, a HP Photosmart C4680, [Personal Information Removed] Product Number: Q8418B, Model Number:SNPRH-0803, as I am trying to manually set up this printer with my HP Chromebook, and for the last three hours I have been going round in circles, being taken to all sorts of obscure websites and yet even more search indexes. I got a call back from a tech support guy on an associate printer support site, but I was required to activate remote access and to share my pc with him, and I feel paranoid about remote access, as i don't want to give just anybody the keys to my laptop to do as they please. So I became apprehensive and ended the call. I no longer have the manual for my old printer and I couldn't find anything pertaining to an IP address on the original box in which it came. My PC/laptop to which I am trying to connect it is a HP Chromebook 11a-nb0002sa, if that helps, if it's some sort of compatibility issue. I really didn't think it should be this complicated! If someone could get back to me I would really appreciate it, thanks.

First, you did a good job hanging that scam call. You need to have a printer connected to the network ( wired or wireless) to obtain an IP address, without a network connection there is no IP address.
