Hi @Ahmed4512
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're having trouble finishing the setup of your HP Smart Tank 790 on the HP Smart app for your laptop and getting the "Cannot Obtain Printer Details" error, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Ensure Printer and Laptop are on the Same Network
- Make sure your printer and laptop are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If they’re on different networks (like a guest network), the HP Smart app may not be able to detect the printer.
2. Restart Devices
- Restart both your printer and your laptop. This can often resolve connectivity issues.
3. Update HP Smart App
- Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your laptop. Check for updates in your app store or download it directly from the HP website.
4. Firewall and Security Software
- Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can block the app from accessing the printer. Temporarily disable any such software to see if that resolves the issue.
5. Reinstall HP Smart App
- If the problem persists, consider uninstalling and then reinstalling the HP Smart app. This can sometimes clear up configuration issues.
6. Use the Printer’s IP Address
- If the app still can't find your printer, you can try adding it manually:
- Open the HP Smart app.
- Click on the Plus (+) sign to add a printer.
- Choose the option to add via IP address and enter the printer’s IP address (you can find this on the printer's display or in the network settings).
7. Check for Firmware Updates
- If you can print from your mobile device, check the printer's settings to see if there are any firmware updates available. This can often help with connectivity issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
