Hi @Mikel69,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Since this is a first-time setup, you can connect your HP 5100 series printer to your Wi-Fi network and then print wirelessly from your laptop, tablet, or phone.

  • Connect the printer to power and turn it on. Complete the initial setup and remove any remaining packaging materials.
  • On the device you want to use for setup, connect to your home Wi-Fi network.
  • Install the HP app from.
  • Open the HP app and select Add Printer or Set Up a New Printer.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
  • Once setup is complete, the printer can be added through the HP app on your other laptop, tablet, or phone.

For Wi-Fi setup, keep the printer and the device you are using for setup close to the router. HP's setup process uses the HP app to connect the printer to the wireless network.
