HP LaserJet Pro 9010 Product Number: 1G5L3A

We have a printer that was managed by a former IT company.  The former IT company put an admin password in place to protect the printer.  I need to be able to reset that password or factory reset the printer so that we can manage and configure the printer for the customer.

Hi @MikeB-SIS

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

To reset the admin password on your HP LaserJet Pro 9010, you have a couple of options:

Option 1: Factory Reset via Control Panel

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. On the printer display, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults.
  3. Confirm and let the printer reset. This will remove all settings, including the admin password.

Option 2: Access EWS (Web Admin Interface)

  1. Find the printer’s IP address via the printer display.
  2. Type the IP address into a browser (e.g., http://192.168.x.x).
  3. Log in with default credentials:
    • Username: admin, Password: admin or 12345678.
  4. Once logged in, reset or change the admin password in the Security section.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you for the reply, Raj.  We tried those suggestions.  I did not have the "12345678" as a password, so will try that.  I did find a way to factory reset the printer without the need for the admin password.  If that works, I will post those as a help to everyone that might have this problem.
