HP OfficeJet Pro 9012 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

To cut a long story short, I want to find out how to reset my HP 9012 printer that has the Smart Ink cartridges installed (need to do this as HP Account wont pick up the fact that the cartridges are installed = cant use the printer to print!).

I tried resetting it via the menu and now when I turn it on, it gives me an error saying the printer needs to be connected before I can use Smart Ink but when I tap next on the printer to print the alignment page, nothing happens. Short of buying traditional ink cartridges, I dont know what else to do as i have also done the old trick of unplugging the printer from mains power for 5-10 mins and nothing happens as well.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you want to reset the printer, I am glad to assist you.

You might have to perform a semi-full reset on the printer.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I am sending you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.

I hope this helps resolve this issue completely.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
