Hi @Jacsa22

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it feels when the printer keeps showing the same message even after turning it off and on. Thank you for already trying that step — it helps narrow things down.

Let’s walk through a few deeper checks to calm the system and refresh the print engine.

Here are the steps to try, in order:

1. Fully power‑cycle the printer
This clears any stuck processes inside the print system.
• Turn the printer off using the power button.
• Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer.
• Wait for at least 30 seconds so the internal components fully discharge.
• Plug the cable back in and turn the printer on.
Let the printer sit for a minute to finish its startup sequence.

2. Remove any surge protector or extension board
Sometimes the printer doesn’t get stable power and restarts into an error loop.
• Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet.
• Restart it once more and check if the message clears.

3. Disconnect all cables except power
This helps isolate whether a connection is triggering the error.
• Remove USB cable (if connected).
• Disconnect the network cable (if connected).
• Restart the printer with only the power cable attached.
If the printer starts normally, reconnect one cable at a time.

4. Refresh the printer’s firmware
If the printer reaches the Home screen even briefly, try updating the firmware from the control panel.
If it does not reach the Home screen at all, let me know — we’ll try an alternate method.

5. Restart the print system on the computer
This helps if the computer is sending a corrupted job.
• On your Windows PC, open the print queue for this printer.
• Cancel all pending jobs.
• Restart the computer.
• Turn the printer off and on again.

6. Try starting the printer without cartridges (only if the message appears immediately at power‑on)
This checks whether the print system is being blocked by a component.
• Turn the printer off.
• Remove the toner cartridge.
• Turn the printer on without the cartridge.

If the message changes or the printer reaches the Home screen, reinstall the cartridge and test again.

If the message appears instantly at startup even after all these steps, tell me exactly when the error shows up:
• Immediately when powering on?
• After the HP logo?
• Only when trying to print or scan?

Your answer will help me guide you to the next precise step.
