ENVY 5000 (HP5B8CD8)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an ENVY 5000 printer on my network. It lives at 192.168.1.3 for wireless comm purposes. However, the printer software is convinced that I have another printer at 192.168.1.2 (which is actually the address of my Android phone). Mostly this weirdness causes no issues but it seems that "Scan to Computer is currently unavailable". When I try to run Print and Scan Doctor, if I select 192.168.1.3 (the "real" printer), it tells me that nothing is wrong. If I select 192.168.1.2 (the "ghost") it tells me (probably unsurprisingly) that it cannot communicate with the device -- dead end.

Two questions, then:

1. How do I make the Ghost at 192.168.1.2 go away?

2. How do I get Scan to Computer to work?

Thanks in advance for any help. Stay safe,

FrankVH

@FrankVH, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I see that you are trying to scan from the printer screen to the computer. This feature requires full-feature printer software to be installed on the computer.

Click here to download the HP Full-feature driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Open the printer software(printer icon on the desktop) > Go to Scan > Manage scan to computer > Enable

Try scanning.

Go to Devices and Printers and delete the duplicate entry of the printer(192.168.1.2).

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
