Hi @stamps6,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Changing the SSID (Service Set Identifier) on your HP DeskJet 4100 series printer involves connecting the printer to a different wireless network or configuring it to connect to a new network. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you change the SSID for your HP DeskJet 4100 series printer:

1. Prepare Your Printer

Turn On the Printer:

  • Ensure your HP DeskJet 4100 is powered on.

Connect to the Printer’s Wireless Network:

  • Your printer will broadcast its own temporary Wi-Fi network during the setup process. Make sure you’re connected to this network. This might be necessary if you’re using the printer’s built-in wireless setup feature.

2. Use the Printer’s Control Panel

Access Wireless Settings:

  • On the printer's control panel, look for the wireless icon (which looks like a Wi-Fi signal). Press it to access the wireless settings menu.

Navigate to Wireless Setup Wizard:

  • Select Wireless Setup Wizard from the menu. This will allow you to select your new network.

Select Your Network:

  • The printer will scan for available networks. Select the SSID (network name) of the new wireless network you want to connect to.

Enter Network Password:

  • Enter the Wi-Fi password for the new network when prompted. Ensure you enter it correctly to avoid connection issues.

Confirm and Connect:

  • Follow any additional prompts to complete the connection process. The printer should now connect to the new SSID.

3. Using HP Smart App

Open HP Smart App:

  • Launch the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device. If you don’t have it, download it from the HP Smart website or your device’s app store.

Add Printer:

  • If the printer isn’t already listed, select Add Printer or + to find your HP DeskJet 4100.

Access Printer Settings:

  • Once the printer is connected to the app, go to Printer Settings.

Network Setup:

  • Navigate to Wireless Settings or Network Setup.

Change Network:

  • Follow the prompts to select the new SSID and enter the Wi-Fi password. The app will guide you through the process.

4. Use Web-Based Printer Configuration

Find Printer’s IP Address:

  • Print a Network Configuration page from the printer’s control panel or menu. This page will list the printer’s IP address.
  • Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the printer. This will take you to the printer’s web-based configuration page.:
  • If prompted, enter the printer’s login credentials. By default, there might not be a password, but check the user manual if you’re unsure.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
