Hi,
I am trying to fix/improve my HP 2710e printer, using HP SMART on my computer.
But, the App is asking me for a 'custom printer password' ? and due to the number of tries has locked me out!!!
Its not the PIN on the back of the printer, nor the HP-ID, nor any of my usual passwords.
How do I go about either (a) resetting the password or (b) resetting the printer to factory default?
And do you know what the flashing "envelope" icon (located above the BLACK INK indicator) means?
Here's hoping
Jules

I talking with the HP team today, and we resolved the issue....
The WIFI on the printer was not connecting so the printer status was not visible on my computer network or over the internet.
Once that issue was resolved, and the HP SMART refreshed, then the HP SMART / Printer Settings / Settings / Advanced Settings / Sign In worked automatically (without typing anything) - using the original (default / unchanged) PIN -- (I thought I hadn't changed it!!!)
It turns out that if you try to use the valid PIN (original default or your updated PIN) in HP SMART whilst the printer is NOT connected with WIFI, then the software & the PC cannot cross verify what you entered, and the HP SMART SW assumes what you entered is wrong. So, connect the WIFI, then recheck if your PIN logs you in. Good luck.
