Microsoft Windows 11

Have owned and used my 5530 for many years and it's been working fine until today when it suddenly won't connect.  It sees the router fine but stays on 'not connected'.  Have tried setting up the wireless again with password, and that fails still.  What's next?

@PemV, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP Envy 5530 printer suddenly won't connect to your wireless network despite recognizing the router, there are several steps you can take to resolve the issue:

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off your printer, router, and computer.
  • Wait for a few minutes and then turn them back on. Restarting these devices can often resolve connectivity issues.

Check Network Settings:

  • Confirm that the router and the printer are both on the same network.
  • Ensure that your network SSID and password have not changed.

Re-establish Connection:

  • Go to the printer's control panel and navigate to the network settings.
  • Run the Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer to attempt to connect to the network again, and make sure to enter the correct password.

Printer IP Address:

  • Confirm that your printer has a valid IP address assigned by the router. Sometimes printers might not get assigned an IP address due to network issues.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there are any available firmware updates for your printer. Updated firmware can often fix bugs and improve connectivity.

Re-install Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall the printer driver from your computer and reinstall the latest version from the HP Support website.

Disable Firewall/Software:

  • Temporarily disable any firewall or security software on your computer and see if the printer connects. Sometimes security software can block the printer’s access to the network.

Reset Network Settings: Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer | HP® Support

  • Factory reset the network settings on your printer.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Thank you.  Resetting everything appears to have worked, but pretty humbug to have to go through because the printer randomly decides to disconnect itself for no reason at all.  Again, thank you.
