HP ENVY 6000
Microsoft Windows 11

Nightmare. Hair pulling rage. My local cable company installed a new Router. The nightmare began there. I have tried for a week to get my Envy 6000 to install, stay installed and stay ONLINE. Every morning I find it off-line. Everyday I turn off my laptop for several minutes, turn off the printer for several minutes/unplug. Turn the printer back on and then the laptop. Some days it works, others, like today it does not.

- turned off printer and unplugged many times
- turned of laptop

- logout of everything related to the printer
- uninstalled and reinstalled HP Smart software
- removed HP Envy 6000 from my Router and tried multiple reinstalls via HP Smart
- printer and smart phone DO see each other and I CAN print from that (why?)
- HP Printer & Scan Doctor installed BUT cannot work, because it cannot see the printer

Arghh, it was online.Arghh, it was online. It's plugged in, it's ON and it's on the network.

Hi @MR3000,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 6000 printer is consistently going offline and now shows as completely offline, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

  • Check the printer's physical connections: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. Verify that the USB or Ethernet cable is securely connected at both ends.
  • Restart your printer and computer: Power off your printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. Also, restart your computer to refresh the connection.
  • Verify printer status: On your computer, go to the Control Panel or Settings and navigate to the "Printers" or "Devices and Printers" section. Check if the printer is listed and set as the default printer. If it is offline, right-click on the printer and select "Use Printer Online" or a similar option.
  • Check network connectivity: If you are using the printer over a network, ensure that your computer and printer are connected to the same network. Try accessing the printer's web interface by entering its IP address in a web browser to verify connectivity.
  • Update printer drivers: Visit the official HP website, locate the support section, and search for the latest drivers for your printer model. Download and install any available updates to ensure you have the most up-to-date drivers.
  • Disable firewall or antivirus: Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer, as they may be blocking the printer's communication. If the printer works after disabling them, consider adjusting the settings to allow printer access.
  • Reset printing system (for Mac): If you are using a Mac, resetting the printing system can sometimes resolve offline printer issues. Go to "System Preferences," select "Printers & Scanners," right-click (or Ctrl-click) in the printer list, and choose "Reset printing system." Note that this will remove all printers from your list, so you'll need to re-add them afterward.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I contacted HP for tech help in every form, calls, live chat, emails for 35 days before giving up. Lots and lots of helpful suggestions which I followed to a T, but none took and it was offline with 1 hour to 72 hours later. So, after 35 days I finally gave up and purchased a non HP Printer.
