Hello community. My HP 6055e never just works. Each time I want to print something, I have to turn the printer off, unplug it, and turn it on again. I tried speaking with HP customer care; as a result, I'm billed for, and receive, 2 different ink types (really!). My problem was not resolved then. So the only thing I can do is to continue to unplug a $250 printer each and every time I need to print a single page, shipping label, etc.

I was traveling for a month and unplugged the printer for this time period. During that month, HP sent me many emails telling me that my printer needed to access my internet. Why? So it can sell me ink? When I came home, I turned the printer back on. We're stuck in the white light or the purple light...and nothing I try is allowing the printer to connect again. I've completed every type of troubleshooting I know about. Best Buy won't take this printer back. (This printer was a replacement for a different HP printer I purchased that just would not initialize...so my disappointment is mounting! Best Buy didn't allow me a refund, they said HP only allows exchanges.)

I feel utterly trapped with this piece of JUNK. My last HP printer was not wireless; it cost me $25 and worked perfectly for a very long time. I miss those days. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the HP User Community.

I am sorry that you paid so much for this simple Envy model - it is typically for sale for $170 USD.

I cannot tell from your description whether you have an Instant Ink subscription .

If yes, I do not know why you would be charged for ink.

HP Instant Ink is a Print-by-Page subscription model.

Ink is included while the subscription plan is active.

If you have an Instant Ink subscription

AND / OR

If you have enabled HP+ on the printer

(then)

Yes, the printer must remain on and able to connect to the Internet so the service(s) can monitor the printer.

True - Leaving the printer unplugged for a month might interrupt the ink supply.

Ink can dry out in that amount of time.

Printers are meant to at least be left on so they can complete self-maintenance.

Printers are meant to be used about once a week.

True - Purple light indicates the printer is trying to connect to your Wireless network.

Section:  Light bar glows purple from the middle outward

When Purple light is combined with the flashing amber light

Section:  Light bar glows purple at the outside edges and flashes amber at the center

IF you did not do so,

Try / Consider

Set the network back to defaults

HP Envy 6000 series & HP Envy Pro 6452 | 6455 AiO Printer : Reset Wireless to defaults

Try here:

What else?

Printer can connect to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz frequency (band) but not at the same time.

Assign the printer to the SSID named network on the frequency (band) you want it to use.

If you have HP+ enabled,

Contact the concierge HP+ Support Service for help to get your printer connected.

If you have an Instant Ink subscription,

If you have questions, concerns, objections, or comments about that service,

Contact HP Instant Ink Support from within your HP Instant Ink account or at Instant Ink Support >> HP Instant Ink Support

What else?

I will submit your question for Review.

If there should be a response to my submission request,

Look for a response here before an agent uses other means to contact you.
