Hello everyone, sorry in advance, my english isn't perfect, i hope you will understand me anyway.
I owe a HP C4580 PHOTOSMART printer since a long time and i want to reuse it, so i reinstalled the package HP printers drivers).
I don't have the cable to connect directly the computer to the printer so i need to do it in Wireless mode only.
Once i installed the drivers, i tried to connect the printer and my computer in wireless mode but it ask me a Wi-fi (WPA2) password that i don't have.
Here is my computer setup : Apple MacBook Pro Mid-2012 : MAC OS CATALINA 10.15.7 (last update available for this model).
MY QUESTION IS : How to get the Wi-fi password to be able to connect the computer to the printer in wireless mode ?
Do i need to print the report connection paper (leaf) to have the password ? Is it the only way to get it ?
I don't have ink right now so i need to buy the cartridges and i want to be sure that it's gonna work.
Thanks for reading and for your answers 🙂

Hi @XV92,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To connect your HP Photosmart C4580 printer to your Wi-Fi network without the cable, you'll indeed need the Wi-Fi (WPA2) password. Here are a few methods you can try to retrieve it.
- Check your router: Typically, the Wi-Fi password is printed on a sticker on your router. Look for a label that might include the network name (SSID) and password (often labeled as "WPA Key" or "Security Key").
- Router administration page: You can access your router's administration page through a web browser. Enter your router's IP address into the address bar (common ones are 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) and log in using your router's credentials (often found on the router itself or in the manual). Once logged in, navigate to the wireless settings section to find or reset your Wi-Fi password.
- Previous device: If any of your devices were previously connected to the Wi-Fi network, you might find the password saved in their settings. For example, on a Mac, you can check System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Show Wi-Fi password.
Printing the network configuration page from your printer may also provide the Wi-Fi network name and password if it was previously connected to a wireless network. To print this page without using ink, check your printer's manual for instructions on printing a network configuration page directly from the printer's control panel.
Once you have the Wi-Fi password, you can proceed with connecting your HP Photosmart C4580 printer to your wireless network.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @XV92.
Thank you for your response,
When referring to a "router," it typically means your internet router, not the printer's. The internet router manages the network connection for all devices in your home or office, including your printer.
