Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Ok so Print one document out from new HP Chromebook  prints fine , seconds later cant print another document out from same Laptop - document stuck in queue .

 

When we send the document via email to the HP Spectre - printed fine .. Why does chromebook keep dropping the printer connection , Tried the reinstall ,of both  printer and swtiched everything off and back on several times - same thing happens repeatedly 0 - its like the chromebook sleeps the connection to the printer and wont reactivate it  even thought other HP laptops can print the same document on the same printer using the same wifi at the same time.

 

So its not interference (intially thought might be wireless interference) 

It's not the document 

Its not the printer (works from other laptops) 

its not the wifi (works from other laptops) 

Anyone any idea?   Begining to think the Chromebook is sleeping the connection - Come on HP how do we rectify this ?

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Officejet 6500 Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

 

Let's perform a power drain: 

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Update the printer firmware 

 

  • Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product

If the issue persists, then please follow the below steps:

 

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor and run the program. It will automatically diagnose and fix any printer connectivity issues.

Delete job files and restart

Reset your printing environment, delete print job files manually, and then restart both the computer and the printer.

  1. Turn off the printer using the power button and then unplug the printer power cord from the power outlet.
  2. In Windows, search for and open Services.
  3. In the Services window, right-click Print Spooler, and then select Stop.

Service window the Print Spooler service selected from the Name list and the Stop selection called out.

  1. After the service stops, close the Services window.
  2. In Windows, search for and open C:Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS.
  3. Delete all files in the PRINTERS folder.
  4. Shut down your computer.
  5. Connect the printer power cord to the power outlet, and then turn on the printer.
  6. Turn on the computer, and then try to print. If the issue persists, continue to the next step.

Set up Manual IP

please set a manual IP address and manual DNS servers for the printer.

The steps on how to set a manual IP address can be found here.

For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server. These are Google’s public DNS servers.

 

Uninstall and Reinstall the printer driver

Follow the steps below: 

  

1) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features 

2) Select your HP Printer 

3) Select Uninstall 

4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers 

5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’ 

6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo. 

7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”) 

😎 Click on the “Drivers” tab 

9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom 

10) Select Ok 

11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows 

12) Close Devices and Printers.

 

Once the uninstallation is complete, you can download and install the latest software from here.
