Printer will not stay online via wireless connection. I keep having to restart the wireless connection via the router.
Things I have done to troubleshoot problem:
Checked network connection and it shows network WI-FI is on, WI-FI Direct on, WI-FI connection Upper right hand corner shows strong wifi siginal.
I have tried turning off WiFi Direct also, but it still will not keep connection.
Reports from router state the printer is randomly disconnecting from wifi. It is not a problem with the WAP, as no other devices are going up and down on the network.
I have tried manually assigning a static ip to the printer, and it still randomly disconnects from wifi.
Wireless Network Test Report shows everything has passed
Other Networks detected matching your network name (SSID) NO
Wireless Netwrok Detected 0
Disconnect Count 0, Disconnect Count (Last 24 hrs) 0, Disconnect Connect Count (Last Hour)0, Channel 1 =0
Please help as this is a 1 year old printer out of warranty of course, but it should not be dropping wifi. I do not wish to use the Wifi direct or a cable to connect as I need this work as a WiFi printer.

Welcome to the HP support community.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to fix connectivity and printing issues.
Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.
-
Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
-
Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.
-
If your printer is not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.
-
If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.
-
-
If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.
-
If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.
-
Try to print.
Assign a manual IP address and that should fix the issue.
Find the printer IP address to assign it manually.
-
Load plain paper into the main input tray.
-
On the printer control panel, swipe left, and then touch Setup
.
-
Touch Reports.
-
Touch Configuration Report.
Setting a Static IP Address
Once you know your printer’s IP address from the page you printed, entering it is pretty easy. Here’s what you do:
- Run your Web browser.
- In the Web browser’s address bar, type the IP address of your printer and press Enter. Assuming you entered the right address, the HP printer control panel should appear.
- Click the Networking tab.
- Under Connections, click Wireless.
- Under IP Address Configuration, click Manual IP.
- Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway in the appropriate boxes.
- Click Apply.
