HP Envy x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP DeskJet 2622 All-in-one and an HP Envy laptop, Operating System Windows 10 (64 bit). My most recent update was Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2.

I've been using this printer/scanner for a couple years without any issues, and a week ago when I tried to scan through the HP Smart App I got this message: "Scanning is currently unavailable." I tried scanning using the windows fax and scan app and got similar messages. I uninstalled and reinstalled all apps related to the printer and set up the printer again.

After a lot of troubleshooting, I realized what's happening is, my computer and printer cannot both be connected to the wifi simultaneously. If I connect one, the other automatically disconnects. If I manually connect the scanner to wifi it will scan, but that disconnects my computer from the wifi. This has never been an issue before and I don't know what triggered it now.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the network driver. I've tried connecting the printer via USB and it still doesn't scan. I've also power cycled the computer, printer, and the wifi router.

I don't know if this has anything to do with recent updates. Any suggestions?

Hi @Tputman,

I'd like to help!

Try the below suggestions-

1)Uninstall HP Smart

2)Install all the available Windows updates

If it is been a while since you updated your Windows, that is the main reason why Windows says your HP printer driver is unavailable. Here are the steps how to do a Windows Update to install all accessible operating system update.

If you are accessing Windows 10, then these steps are for you.

  1. Hit the Start menu and write an update. After that, click on the “Check for updates” option.
  2. Tap on the “Check for updates” option.
  3. After clicking on that option, Windows will install the updates automatically.
  4. When Windows completes all its updates, start your computer again and attempt to print a file to check if your printer works.

3) try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

4)Reinstall HP Smart from windows store

If the error persists, install the HP Easy Start (under the Software and Utility tab )and use HP Scan to scan a document

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
