The printer was previously connected to my phone and now it says that it is offline when the printer is on and the wifi signal is present. I am unable to find the printer to set up on the HP smart app on my laptop. Additionally, I am unable to set the printer to setup mode.

Hi @Prisha_13,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
For your HP DeskJet 2680 printer connection issue, let's try a few troubleshooting steps to resolve it.
Check the Printer's Network Connection
- Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone and laptop.
- On the printer's control panel, press and hold the Wi-Fi button until the light starts blinking. This should initiate the Wi-Fi setup mode.
Reset the Printer's Network Settings
- If the printer is not entering setup mode, you may need to reset its network settings:
- On the printer, press and hold both the Wi-Fi and cancel buttons for about 10 seconds.
- The Wi-Fi light will start blinking, indicating the reset was successful.
Reinstall or Reconfigure via HP Smart App
- Ensure the HP Smart app is up to date.
- Open the app on your laptop or phone and follow the steps to set up the printer again. Select "Add Printer" and follow the instructions to connect your printer.
- If it still doesn't detect the printer, try restarting both your printer and your router to reset network connections.
Manual Setup
- If you can't use the HP Smart app to connect, you can try setting it up manually through the printer's IP address:
- Go to the printer's control panel and print a network configuration page (usually found in the printer settings).
- Find the printer's IP address from the printout.
- Enter the IP address in a web browser to access the printer's settings page, where you can manually configure its network connection.
Wi-Fi Direct (Temporary Solution)
- If Wi-Fi connectivity continues to be an issue, you can try connecting your phone or laptop to the printer via Wi-Fi Direct:
- On the printer, press and hold the Wi-Fi Direct button (if available) until it starts blinking.
- Look for the printer’s Wi-Fi network in your device’s Wi-Fi settings and connect directly to it.
- Once connected, you should be able to print, though this is not a long-term solution for networked printing.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
