Hello

Two weeks ago I changed the colour cartridge. After that I took a few print outs (including the alignment page) and everything was fine.

I then printed out one black and white print out which was perfect. The next one (5 second later) came out blank. Now it refuses to print anything in black. I have changed the black ink cartridge but the problem persists. The printer makes a sound like it is printing (so the machinery inside seems to be working) but there is nothing black/ grey on any printed page.

I have tried steps I would find online and also ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor but nothing has worked. I also did a factory reset but no luck.

Can someone please help!

Thanks

@StrohlP, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I see that the printer is not printing in black. Make sure you have tried the steps mentioned in this document - Black Ink Not Printing and other Print Quality Issues

Also, use HP ink cartridges.

If you have already used 2 different black ink cartridges and the issue persists, I'm afraid this could be an issue with the printer.

Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

Follow the instructions below to reach them:

1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.

6) Fill out the webform and proceed further.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Thanks for your message, Kumar0307. I had indeed tried the steps listed at the link below.

Finally I used a third black cartridge and that seemed to work. I still don't understand how or why since the original one was 50% full and the second one was brand new but the third one seemed to work.

Additionally with the original one I manage to take one print perfectly but 5 seconds later the next page came out completely blank. So I really don't know what is happening.

@StrohlP

In this case, you may contact the HP Support team for replacement ink cartridges.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes, please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
