Hi @johnnypb,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When you change your Wi-Fi modem or router, the network settings on your printer need to be updated to match the new network configuration. Here are some steps you can follow to resolve the issue and get your HP Deskjet 2600 printer working again on Linux Mint.

Check Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure that your printer is connected to the new Wi-Fi network. Most printers have a display screen that allows you to check or update the wireless network settings. Follow the printer's manual or on-screen instructions to connect it to the new Wi-Fi.

Update Printer Settings on Linux Mint: Open the printer settings on your Linux Mint system and make sure the printer is set up to use the correct network.

  • Go to the "Printers" or "Print Settings" application on your system.
  • Find your HP Deskjet 2600 printer in the list.
  • If the printer is not listed, you may need to add it again using the "Add Printer" option.
  • Edit the printer properties and update the connection details to match the new Wi-Fi network.

Reinstall the Printer: If updating the printer settings doesn't work, try removing and reinstalling the printer on your Linux Mint system.

  • Open the "Printers" or "Print Settings" application.
  • Remove the existing HP Deskjet 2600 printer.
  • Use the "Add Printer" option to add the printer again, making sure to select the correct model and set up the connection to the new Wi-Fi network.

Restart the CUPS Service: The Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) is responsible for managing print jobs on Linux. Restarting the CUPS service might help resolve any connectivity issues.

sudo service cups restart

Or on some systems:

sudo systemctl restart cups

Check Printer Queue: Make sure there are no pending print jobs in the print queue that might be causing the issue.

Verify Firewall Settings: Check if any firewall settings on your Linux Mint system are blocking the communication between your computer and the printer. Ensure that the necessary ports are open.

HP Device Manager (Optional): Consider installing the HP Device Manager for Linux, if available. This tool can help you set up and manage HP printers.

sudo apt-get install hplip

Update Printer Firmware (Optional): Visit the HP support website to check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Deskjet 2600 printer. Updating the firmware might resolve compatibility issues.

After going through these steps, your HP Deskjet 2600 should be able to print on the new Wi-Fi network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
