Hello, This is PawPaw Steve, who is having problems with my HP ENVY 6458e All in one printer, after resetting my network connection to my router.  I went to HP support and followed their steps of correcting my problem, but to no avail.  I have pushed the Network WIFI reset button on the back of the printer, then after releasing the reset button, then all of the lights on the printer is flashing.  What initial  printer challenge, was trying to use the HP Smart on my Android phone printer network, then the printer would not print from my laptop or my wife's Iphone.  THE BIG Question is what does all of the many lights flashing mean?  I would appreciate anyone's help.  Thank you!

When all the lights on your HP ENVY 6458e All in ONe printer are flashing, it typically indicates an error condition that needs to be addressed. Here are some steps to help you diagnose and resolve the issue:

 

1. Restart the Printer

Sometimes a simple restart can resolve the issue.

Power Off:

  • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
  • Unplug the printer from the power source.

Wait:

  • Wait for about 60 seconds.

Power On:

  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

2. Check for Error Messages

Look at the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device for any error messages or codes.

Control Panel:

  • Check the printer's control panel for any specific error messages or icons.

HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app and check for any notifications or error messages related to the printer.

3. Check for Paper Jams

Paper jams can cause the printer to flash all lights.

Inspect Paper Trays:

  • Open all paper trays and remove any paper that may be jammed.

Check Inside the Printer:

  • Open the printer’s access doors and look for any jammed paper inside the printer.

Remove Jammed Paper:

  • Gently remove any jammed paper, being careful not to tear it.

4. Check Ink Cartridges

Ensure that the ink cartridges are correctly installed and have enough ink.

Open Ink Cartridge Access Door:

  • Open the door to access the ink cartridges.

Inspect Cartridges:

  • Ensure the cartridges are correctly installed and secure.
  • Check for any ink leaks or damage.

Replace Cartridges if Needed:

  • If any cartridges are low or empty, replace them with new ones.

5. Reset the Printer

Performing a reset can sometimes clear any errors.

  1. Hard Reset:
    • With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
    • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then back into the printer.
    • Turn the printer on.

6. Update Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause the printer to behave erratically.

  1. Check for Firmware Updates:
    • Go to the HP Support website.
    • Enter your printer model (HP ENVY 6455e) and check for any available firmware updates.
    • Follow the instructions to download and install the latest firmware.

7. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

HP's diagnostic tool can help identify and resolve issues.

  1. Download and Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:
    • Download HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP Support website.
    • Run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and resolve any issues.
