HP ENVY Inspire 7224e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP ENVY Inspire 7224e printer regularly looses its network connection, with the blue LED flashing.

There is no problem with the network because my laptop has a connection to the same 5GHz WiFi network.

I then go to the WiFi connection wizard on the control panel of the printer. I select my network.

Sometimes the printer allows me to use WPS to setup the security key, sometimes I have to enter the security key via the virtual keyboard. In any case I get the following error message:

Printererror

A problem occurred with the printer. Contact Support if the problem persists.

OK

( I have translated the message from my home language in English)

When I try again after resetting the network configuration, I get the same error.

After a power cycle I can succesfully setup a connection again. But this should not be necessary in my opinion.

I used a DHCP option of the router to always assign the same IP address to the printer based on its MAC address.

To find out if this helps, I have assigned a manual IP address to the printer. With some luck this avoids the problem as the printer does not rely on DCHP anymore, so whenever there is a WiFI connection there is also a valid IP address. I noticed that the printer reports the MAC address of the printer as its IP address when there is no connection. So this should now be avoided.
