Windows sees printer as off-line. Printer did work for years, suddenly stopped. Unable to turn printer online. Unable to install printer as the PIN (Taken off of printer) is not accepted. All diagnostics say to contact manufacturer.

Hi @art115,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY printer's PIN is not being accepted during the installation process, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.
Double-check the PIN:
- Ensure that you have correctly entered the PIN provided with your printer. Verify that there are no typos or mistakes in the PIN.
Restart the Installation Process:
- Sometimes, software glitches can cause PIN validation issues. Try restarting the installation process from the beginning.
Use the WPS Method:
- If you're having trouble with the PIN, consider using the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) method instead. Most modern HP printers support WPS, and it can be an easier way to connect your printer to your network. Check your printer's manual for instructions on how to use WPS.
Connect via USB:
- Another option is to connect your printer to your computer using a USB cable during the installation process. Once the printer is connected, the setup software should guide you through the rest of the process, including connecting to your Wi-Fi network.
Reset the Printer:
- If you're still encountering issues, you can try resetting your HP ENVY printer to its factory settings. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset. After the reset, you can set it up as a new device.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Make sure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Go to the HP website and check for firmware updates for your specific printer model. Updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues and improve overall performance.
Disable Firewall or Security Software:
- Sometimes, firewall or security software on your computer can block the printer installation process. Temporarily disable any security software and try the installation again. Remember to re-enable it after the installation is complete.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
