I'm trying to assist a customer with setting up their HP Envy 4500. They state they purchased it only a few months ago, yet the warranty is listed as expiring in 2020. In any case, this printer will only hook up via wifi or USB. They need to use wifi as they don't have a dedicated computer in their office for USB. I've tried everything imaginable to attempt to get this printer to hook into wifi (their network, my phone, brought it home and attempted my own network - tried via WPS, Password, attempted static IP info vs dynamic, added a reservation via mac address in a router etc). Every single time this setup fails and the network details that can print out is always empty. I've also looked online at firmware updates, there was a network update available, I applied that and no change... curious if anyone has come across this and had success... or if his is basically a paper weight.
It's worth noting that the printer will print fine via USB... and the "dedicated wifi" option that you can do by hooking into the HP private network built into the printer. Both of these work, it's just the wireless network connect that keeps failing. It hasn't been able to connect since day 1.

@BradDoesTech, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
That’s a tricky one! 😩 Since the HP Envy 4500 works fine via USB and Wi-Fi Direct, but never connects to a standard wireless network, even after extensive troubleshooting across multiple networks, let's try some steps:
Additional Things to Try
Fully Reset the Printer’s Network Settings
On the printer’s control panel, go to:
Settings > Restore Defaults > Restore Network Defaults
Restart the printer and try the setup again.
Check Router Security Settings
If the router uses WPA3, switch it to WPA2.
Disable MAC address filtering (if enabled).
Set Up Wi-Fi Manually via Embedded Web Server (EWS)
Connect the printer via Wi-Fi Direct to a phone or PC.
Open a browser and go to 192.168.223.1 (the printer’s built-in network configuration page).
Look for Wireless Setup and manually enter the SSID/password.
If nothing works, you may try to factory default the printer. You may refer to this guide: Restore factory defaults on your HP printer | HP® Support
I hope this helps.
