Operating System: macOS 11.0 Big Sur

Hi. I've recently been having problems with printing to my HP Envy 5010. I can print to it using the HP Smart App, but if I go to directly print something from an email for example, it just won't print and I have a message saying printer is not responding. I've downloaded the latest firmware installer but when I select the printer to update (because my Mac can still see it and it has an IP address on the same network) that just gets 'stuck' and nothing is actually happening. And of course my printer is now out of warranty so I can't actually speak to a human support person! I work as a graphic designer  and have done for many years so I know my way around a Mac and am conversant with printer drivers etc. but I'm flummoxed.

I should also add that I can print to the printer over WiFi using my phone.
