My HPEnvy 5055 printer is unavailable (no air printers found msg) to all my devices (iphone, Mac, Ipad). I have rebooted everything several times, including the router, and rerun the wireless setup function on the printer several times as well. The printer display and the HP Smart app both say it's online, on the correct wireless network, and should be ready. I have done everything I can find recommended on this site, as it appears many people have this problem. The printer previously worked fine, but occasionally would fall off the network; now it won't connect (even though it says it's on the correct network). Just about ready to throw it out. Any additional suggestions would be welcome ! Thanks in advance !

@Mystyc, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Envy 5055!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand you have already tried a few steps and I appreciate that. Please try these steps again:
Check Printer & Network Connection
Ensure Printer is On & Ready:
- If the printer is in sleep mode, press the Power button or touch the screen to wake it up.
- If the printer status is Offline, restart it.
Verify Wireless Connection:
- Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple devices.
- On the printer, go to Setup → Network → Wireless Settings to check the connection.
- If the printer has a Wi-Fi light, ensure it is solid (not blinking).
Test Internet Stability:
- Open a website on your iPhone or Mac to confirm the Wi-Fi is working.
- If the connection is slow, restart the router (unplug for 15 seconds, then reconnect).
Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi
- For printers with a touchscreen (like HP ENVY 5055):
- Go to Setup → Network → Wireless Setup Wizard and reconnect to your Wi-Fi.
- For printers without a touchscreen:
- Press and hold the Wireless button for 5 seconds until the light blinks.
- Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your router to complete the connection.
Restart All Devices
- Turn off the printer, router, and Apple devices.
- Restart the router first and wait for the internet to stabilize.
- Turn on the printer and let it reconnect.
- Restart your iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Thanks for your reply. I have already done everything you suggested, multiple times. The HPSmart app says the printer is online, as does the printer screen. Still getting "no air printers found" on multiple devices trying to print. This used to happen periodically but now appears to be permanent.

Update: I was able to print a test page from the HPSmart app to the printer, but still could not print from other apps. Everything was on the same 2G network. I tried switching to a 5G network and now it prints !! Any idea why ????? This was never the case before.

Hi @Mystyc,
Thanks for keeping us updated! I really appreciate your patience while troubleshooting this.
It’s interesting that switching to the 5G network resolved the issue. The reason this might have worked is that some routers handle 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks differently. Occasionally, devices (especially printers) may struggle with auto-switching between bands or maintaining a stable connection on 2.4 GHz.
A few possible reasons for what happened:
- Network Congestion: If many devices were connected to your 2.4 GHz network, it could have caused interference, making it harder for the printer to communicate.
- Router Settings: Some routers prioritize different devices on different bands, and certain settings might have restricted AirPrint discovery on 2.4 GHz.
- Signal Strength & Interference: 2.4 GHz has a longer range but is more prone to interference from other household devices (like microwaves, Bluetooth devices, or even neighboring networks). 5 GHz is generally faster and less congested.
It’s great that you found a solution! If you experience any issues again, you might want to check your router settings to ensure both bands allow seamless device communication. Also, if your router supports band steering, enabling it can sometimes help by automatically assigning devices to the best network.
