HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer

I had to replace my Envy printer because it became disconnected from Web Services. This printer is enrolled in Instant Ink, and while it can connect to my local Wifi network I tried numerous times to connect it to HP's Web Services and it kept failing. So I replaced it and removedit from my Instant Ink account.

I still would like to use it as a printer but it says I need to connect to Web Services. I suspect this is because it knows I have the instant ink cartridges installed. My question is, if I replace the cartridges with store bought cartridges, will I be able to get past this error message and use it?

Hi @karrun1, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Yes, you should be able to use your HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer with store-bought cartridges. When you use Instant Ink cartridges, the printer requires a connection to HP's Web Services to verify your subscription. However, if you replace the Instant Ink cartridges with standard HP cartridges purchased from a store, the printer should no longer require this connection.

Once you install the new cartridges, the printer should recognize them and allow you to print without needing to connect to Web Services. If you encounter any issues, you might need to reset the printer or update its firmware to ensure it recognizes the new cartridges properly.

Please note: You will have to cancel the instant ink subscription to use the regular/standard ink cartridges.

If you cancel:

You can continue printing with Instant Ink supplies until the end of your current billing cycle.

At the end of the billing cycle, you must remove Instant Ink cartridges and purchase Original HP Ink or Toner directly from the retailer of your choice to continue printing. Instant Ink cartridges only work in enrolled printers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
