Printer HP Envy 5530 will not connect to ATT fiber BGW320-500 gateway. The printer will recognize SSID but every time add password it comes back saying "connection failed invalid wireless password"(which I know is correct). Tried the WPS set up and it fails. I have uninstalled printer and re-installed. Any know suggestions on fixing this problem?

I had a similar issue with my HP CP1525 printer.  Login into the BGW320 gateway and go to advance settings.  On the 2.4 GHz authentication, change from WPA2 to WPA1-WPA2.  My CP1525 printer connect to the gateway.

Hi @Telecom88,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing connectivity issues with your HP Envy 5530 printer and BGW320 gateway. Connectivity problems can be caused by various factors, and I'll provide some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the issue.

  • Check Wi-Fi Signal Strength: Ensure that your printer is within range of the Wi-Fi signal from the BGW320 gateway. Weak signals can cause connection problems. If the printer is too far from the gateway, try moving it closer.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, devices need a simple restart to resolve connectivity issues. Turn off both the printer and the BGW320 gateway, wait for a few seconds, and then turn them back on.
  • Verify Wi-Fi Password: Double-check the Wi-Fi password you are using on the printer. If the password is incorrect, the printer won't be able to connect to the network.
  • Network Name (SSID) Visibility: Ensure that the SSID (network name) of the BGW320 gateway is visible and not hidden. Some devices may have trouble connecting to a hidden network.
  • Printer Firmware Update: Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP Envy 5530 printer. Updating the printer's firmware can often fix bugs and improve connectivity.
  • Gateway Firmware Update: Similarly, make sure that the BGW320 gateway is running the latest firmware version. Sometimes, firmware updates can address connectivity issues.
  • Network Congestion: Check if there are too many devices connected to your Wi-Fi network. If the network is congested, it may affect the printer's ability to connect. Try disconnecting some devices and see if the printer can connect then.
  • Wi-Fi Channel: The BGW320 gateway might be operating on a crowded Wi-Fi channel, leading to interference. Log in to the gateway's admin interface and change the Wi-Fi channel to a less congested one.
  • Security Settings: Ensure that the security settings on the BGW320 gateway (e.g., WPA2, WPA3) match the requirements of your HP Envy 5530 printer.
  • Reset Network Settings on Printer: If everything else fails, you can try resetting the network settings on your HP Envy 5530 printer and reconfigure the Wi-Fi connection from scratch.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi HawkeyeInTX,

Your a genius. After all the suggestions from HP and ATT this suggestion worked. I was going to purchase another printer but in meantime I was using the printer through the computer. Thank you so much for offering the suggestion. You made my day.

Have a great day and Thanks again.
