Worked on issues with an HP Envy 6000 printer install.
Windows 10 computer (DHCP IP 192.168.0.94)
HP Envy 6000 printer (DHCP IP 192.168.0.144)
Can connect to the printer through web interface and verify network settings.
Two computers on the same network, one can print fine but the other says "driver not installed"
Uninstalled the printer software from Add/Remove programs
Deleted the printer from Printers and Scanners
Deleted the printer from Device Manager (hidden) as well as the print queue (hidden)
When trying to install from Control Panel > Devices and Printers, the printer says that some other device is using the resource and it cannot install.
Go to Printers in CP and open the Print Server Properties and try to delete the drivers and you get the error "Unable to remove HP Envy 6000 driver, the specified printer driver is currently in use.
I have removed everything, restarted the print spooler, rebooted the computer
Any thoughts? It is not a printer or network issue since I am able to see and print from another Windows machine on the same network.

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that you are getting printer driver issue, I am glad to assist you.
Did you uninstall the printer driver from root level before installing the new driver?
If not, follow these steps to fix the issue:-
Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.

Hi Sandy,
Just checking in to see if you have any additional information to add. Thank you for your help.
Thank you for your response. If you read through my documentation of the steps I have taken to this point, you will see that I have already completed all of these steps except for the
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK. - to remove the driver
It is at this point that I am stuck and it will not allow me to remove the driver because it says it is in use. Even though I have done the prior steps to uninstall the printer, remove the printers from Devices and Printers and even delete the printer and printer queues for this printer in the device manager (hidden items).
How do I get rid of the driver if it shows it is in use? If I stop the print spooler, this area and all printer items are not available.?
Thank you for your response. I am hopeful we can work through this together.
