We have recently moved house and I am unable to set up my printer on the wifi. I have followed every diagnostic bit of advice with no success. Now the purple 'set up mode' lights are flashing and I cannot turn them off. I have tried WPS mode and computer mode but my Windows laptop will just not connect to the printer.
How can I link the printer the the wifi independently please ?

Hi @planehome,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To connect your HP Envy 6010 printer to Wi-Fi independently, you can use the following steps to reset the network settings and reconnect to your new Wi-Fi network.
Reset the Printer Network Settings
- Restore Network Settings:
- Make sure the printer is turned on.
- On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button together for 5 seconds.
- The wireless light should blink, indicating that the network settings have been reset.
Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi Using HP Smart
Download and Install HP Smart:
- If you haven’t already, download the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store on your Windows laptop.
Open HP Smart and Set Up Your Printer:
- Open the HP Smart app and click on the plus sign (+) to add a new printer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. HP Smart will guide you through connecting the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Using the HP Smart App for Wi-Fi Setup
- Connect Using HP Smart:
- Open HP Smart and click on the Setup a New Printer option.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Alternative Method: Using the Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS)
Connect Printer to Computer Using USB:
- Temporarily connect your printer to your Windows laptop using a USB cable.
Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):
- Open a web browser on your laptop and enter the printer’s IP address (you can find the IP address in the printer's network settings menu if it is connected via USB).

Configure Wi-Fi Settings:
- In the EWS, navigate to the Networking or Wireless section.
- Enter your new Wi-Fi network’s SSID and password.
- Save the settings and disconnect the USB cable.
Using WPS (if your router supports it)
- WPS Push Button:
- Press the Wireless button on the printer.
- Within two minutes, press the WPS button on your router.
- The printer should connect to the Wi-Fi network.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
