HP ENVY 6020e All-in-One Printer

This printer is doing my head in.  Had earlier version and had no problems with setting up and connecting to Wi-Fi.  I originally set up, as advised, using my mobile and HP Smart.  Was working for a short while, then printer went offline.  I wanted to set up using my laptop, again worked for a while and then went offline.  Each time it takes forever to find out how to do, now I don't seem to be able to get connected to Wifi.  My son spent 2 hours getting me connected, I go to use and printer is offline again!  I'm in my 70's and find it very confusing going online to find a solution, trying to follow the instructions and jumping from 1 screen to the next as I've forgotten what it said I should do.  I would print instructions but blooming printer isn't working!  My printer is now flashing purple and none of the indication lights are on.  I have spent so many hours trying to get it up and running on Wi-Fi, that I've simply had enough and feel like chucking it away.  Why are things so difficult, gone are the days when you had an instruction manual you could follow,  not everyone is familiar with technical jargon and abbreviations, so it might just as well be in a foreign language.  Is there somewhere I can find an Idiot's Guide to setting up printer on my laptop with a Wi-Fi connection?  Thanks.  Happy New Year
