Hello,

I recently setup the eero mesh network and now my Envy 6400 printer won't connect. I understand it could be a compatibility issue. I purchased the printer a few months ago.

What do I need to do to connect my printer to the eero network?

Thanks,

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Is this home network or public network?
  • Have you switched to your new eero router device?
  • Are you trying to print from a mobile device or from a computer? What's the operating system installed?

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • Step 1: Connect the printer with WPS
  • Step 2: Connect the printer with the HP Smart app
  • Step 3: Connect the printer with a temporary USB connection
  • Step 4: Print a Wireless Network Test Report
  • Click here: to complete the troubleshooting steps. (refer to: Connect a printer that does not have a touchscreen control panel)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Envy Pro 6400 Series
The above is replacing Officejet Pro 6978
WPS failed, pressed button on back of printer, purple light swayed, pressed WPS in router web app, pressed on router, still no connection; tried PIN in web app , said check-sum is bad, retried on Android app many times, it would find the printer, then the network but each time I'd try to connect to one of my wireless ssid, it failed, tried the 5g, the 2.4g, guest ssid, made sure that allow new devices to connect on the Access Control dialog was enabled, checked list of blocked devices by mac

Thank you for posting back.

This sounds like the router is probably not configured in the bridge mode. This could be a NAT issue which means multiple routers are handing out IP addresses and causing a conflict. Bridge mode means the router acts as purely an access point and not a router. The issue is most likely when you can print at a specific location but not at a different location.

Yeah, I the print server off as it does broadcast the same SSSID name, so that's generally a good suspect, but not this time. And my router is netgear modem & router... I'll repost after inquiry with www.hp.com/contacthp/ I really hate paying for service that fails to make a connection, where is my compensation for my time & energy to get this printer hooked up? I have had a number of printers w/out issue, and many servers, PC, laptops, phones, tablets, TV's, AC points over the years w/out issues getting on my network.

Well, I just realized that the paid support $cost = $cost of the printer, really doesn't seem like the value of my stepping down in  cost & complexity, I used to print as part of my job testing my software, but not anymore, so I bought a simple printer as I couldn't justify the cost of a more expensive solution. I don't know what to do; and I should say that in my prior programming w/printing, I spent hundreds of hours on the phone w/HP support not able bill my clients, and usually figured out things that the HP techs couldn't, like using the same drivers on every server for the lowest printer in the pool for every printer regardless of model to ensure that document data layout would render as originally setup and remain on those drivers for the life of the programmed document templates regardless of server or printers... I'll try a few more times before returning the printer

How do I get support w/out paying considering that there are more folks w/similar connect to wifi issues?
Like why do I have to pay to fix a printer that is known to have issues?
Who can I talk to??

Today there's a phone number showing but was directed to call in to 800-334-5144, called support who directed me to the below IP
The printer IP: 192.168.223.1
Browser (Dolphin on Android) web app came up and was able to then connect to my wifi, followed by hard coding the IP and selecting Allow in Router Access list; tested scan from Phone App choose Share to Drive (defaulted to my google drive)
printed from Phone, but sadly cannot print from laptop, setup with 6000-PCL3 driver and connected to same SSID as printer port matching hard-coded IP, retried Test page w/out success

How do I mark my above as the solution to connect to wifi?
basically...  On my Android...

-Browser (Dolphin) to to the printer IP: 192.168.223.1

-Connect it to the wifi using my known ssid & passphrase...
-Test scan & print to/from cloud/Google Drive using the Android HP Smart app
-Not able to print from the laptop PC printer using 6000-PCL3 driver = sad but it may be the laptop security
