On my printer, the wireless service turns itself off for some unknown reason, and then it's not available when needed (arrgghh!), and I have to go into the display and turn the wireless back on with the slider switch.
Thanks
Jay

Hi @JayJaySipp ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand that automatically turning off the wireless service on your HP ENVY Inspire 7958e can be frustrating! This issue could be due to several factors, such as power-saving settings, firmware glitches, or network stability.
Here are some steps to help resolve the issue:
Update the Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Make sure your printer firmware is up to date, as updates often include bug fixes for connectivity issues.
- You can update the firmware directly from the printer’s control panel by going to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer (or a similar option).
Disable Power-Saving Mode:
- Some HP printers have a power-saving or sleep mode that may interfere with the wireless connection.
- Go to Settings > Power Management on your printer’s display panel and ensure that the power-saving mode is set to the lowest setting or turned off.
Use the HP Smart App to Check Settings: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
- Ensure that the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct is turned off, as enabling both Wi-Fi Direct and regular Wi-Fi can sometimes cause interference.
- Check any additional settings in the app that may impact connectivity.
Assign a Static IP Address to the Printer:
- A dynamic IP address may cause intermittent disconnections. Assigning a static IP can provide a more stable connection.
- You can usually do this by logging into your router’s settings and manually assigning an IP to your printer's MAC address.
Restart Network Devices:
- Power off your router and printer, wait a minute, and then turn them back on.
- This can help clear any temporary issues causing the connection drop.
Disable and Re-enable Wireless Settings on the Printer:
- Go to Settings > Network Settings > Wireless and toggle the wireless connection off and on.
- Reconnect to your Wi-Fi network if prompted.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
