Hello,
my printer HP LaserJet M207-M212 PCLm-S is connected and online but do not print.
In the settings the status shows "offline".
I have worked all day and the printer worked, too. But out of nothing, it shows offline. After a time (5-10 minutes) suddenly the printer starts and printed the last job.
This happens often. What may be the problem?
Thank you!
Alex

Hi @AALEXX1
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like your HP LaserJet M207dw printer is experiencing intermittent connectivity issues, which can cause it to appear offline and delay printing. Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
Why Your Printer Shows “Offline” but Still Prints Later
This usually happens due to:
- WSD Port Conflicts: Windows uses the Web Services for Devices (WSD) port, which can be unreliable.
- DHCP IP Changes: If your printer gets a new IP address from the router, your PC might still be looking for the old one.
- Sleep Mode or Power Save: The printer may enter a low-power state and take time to reconnect.
- Driver or Spooler Glitches: Print jobs get stuck until the spooler clears or the driver reinitializes.
Fixes to Try
Here’s a step-by-step plan tailored to your setup:
1. Switch from WSD to Static IP
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your printer > Printer Properties > Ports.
- If it’s using a WSD port, change it to a Standard TCP/IP port.
- Assign a static IP to your printer via its web interface or router settings.
2. Set as Default Printer
- In Settings > Printers & Scanners, make sure your printer is set as default.
- Uncheck “Let Windows manage my default printer.”
3. Update or Reinstall Drivers
- Download the latest drivers from the HP LaserJet M207-M212 support page.
- Uninstall the current driver and reinstall using the HP Smart app or full driver package.
4. Disable Power Save Mode
- On the printer’s control panel or web interface:
- Go to Settings > Power Management.
- Disable or extend sleep timers.
5. Clear Print Spooler
- Open Services (search in Start).
- Find Print Spooler, right-click > Restart.
- You can also clear stuck jobs via C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS.
Use HP Smart’s Diagnose & Fix
The HP Smart app has a built-in tool that can automatically detect and fix offline issues. It’s effective for this model.
Let me know if you want help assigning a static IP or tweaking the port settings—I can walk you through it.
You’ve already done the hard part by spotting the pattern. Let’s make it behave like the reliable workhorse it’s meant to be.
