HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227sdn

When powered up initially prints fine.

Sleep/Auto Off After Inactivity: 1hr (Max Setting)

After it goes to sleep it will not print unless I toggle power to printer.

I cant believe HP have not fixed this as if its happening to me its happening to many customers.

I'm losing a lot of time on this and considering a different brand.

Appreciate any advice. Would manual IP address help?

@Michael_M227, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Set a Static IP Address (Manual IP)

Yes, using a manual (static) IP address can help, especially when the printer is configured through DHCP. Sometimes DHCP can cause issues after the printer wakes from sleep, as it may not be able to "find" the right IP address again.

Set a static IP address on your printer, which ensures that the printer always has the same address on your network.

Disable Sleep Mode (or adjust sleep settings)

The printer may be having trouble re-establishing a connection to your computer or network after waking up from sleep mode. If you disable sleep mode or set it to a longer period, it could help prevent this issue.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

Use the HP Smart App or Printer Utility

If you haven’t already, use the HP Smart app to check for any additional settings or updates. The app can help you configure your printer, and in some cases, it can help with troubleshooting or advanced settings.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
