I recently changed my network company and have tried every way possible, pushing buttons etc, to connect my printer to the network. Nothing will work. I do not use a computer, I've always used an Android tablet. The new network I named the same name as the old network but the password has changed and therefore my printer can not connect to it. Between yesterday and today I have spent eight hours doing the same things over and over and over again to get the network to recognize the printer so that I can change the password...... I see that I am not alone with this issue . Please help, I neec to do a factory reset and need instructions to do so. Thank you

Hi @PeaceOnEarth ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I understand that you are facing connectivity issues. I’d like to help!
Make sure, your printer and your device are on the same network as 2.4GHZ only.
If your HP LaserJet MFP M29w is not connecting to your Android tablet despite trying various troubleshooting steps, there may be some specific issues preventing the connection. Here are some detailed steps and checks to help you resolve the problem:
1. Ensure Printer and Tablet are on the Same Network:
- Verify that both your HP LaserJet MFP M29w and your Android tablet are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- If your printer supports dual-band Wi-Fi, ensure both devices are on the same frequency band (2.4GHz or 5GHz).
2. Restart Devices:
- Restart your printer, Android tablet, and Wi-Fi router.
- Turn off the printer, unplug it for a minute, plug it back in, and turn it on.
- Restart your Android tablet.
- Restart your Wi-Fi router by unplugging it for a minute and plugging it back in.
3. Update Firmware and Software:
- Ensure that your printer firmware is up to date. You can check for firmware updates via the HP Smart app or the printer's web interface.
- Ensure that your Android tablet's operating system and the HP Smart app are up to date.
- Click here to check for available drivers and firmware as per your current OS version.
Reinstall the HP Smart App:
- Uninstall the HP Smart app from your Android tablet.
- Restart your tablet.
- Reinstall the HP Smart app from the Google Play Store.
Note: Will share the remaining steps in the next post, kindly check.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

- On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button until it starts blinking.
- Use the HP Smart app to set up the printer on your Wi-Fi network again.
- Open the HP Smart app on your Android tablet.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to add a new printer and complete the wireless setup.
6. Check for Network Issues:
- Ensure that there are no network restrictions or firewalls blocking the connection between your tablet and printer.
- Move the printer and tablet closer to the Wi-Fi router to improve signal strength.
7. Print Service Plugin:
- Ensure that the HP Print Service Plugin is installed and enabled on your Android tablet.
- Install the HP Print Service Plugin from the Google Play Store.
- Go to Settings > Connections > More connection settings > Printing.
- Ensure that the HP Print Service Plugin is enabled.
8. Direct Wi-Fi Connection:
- Try connecting your Android tablet to the printer using Wi-Fi Direct.

- On your Android tablet, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and connect to the printer's Wi-Fi Direct network.
