I have this second hand HP LaserJet P1505n and tried to set it up on friday. The printer is connected via lan-cable to the router, which is connected via cable to the computer. The information page of the printer says it is connected. However, the printer did nto show up in my network on my computer.
I downloaded the driver and tried to install it, but the setup-window just closed halfways throught and I assume the process was terminated.
I addede the driver manually via zip.file and installed it.
Still, the printer did not show up in the windows settings. I got the printers IP adress from the information sheet (that you can print without any connections) and told windows, that there is a printer at that IP. The printer showed up afterwards.
However, I could not print.
I asked the windows trouble shooting and it said: The pc is configured just fine but the printer does not respond. It cannot be pinged via network.
I tried to ping the printer through my router options but that also showed a 100% packet loss.
I tried the HP print and scan doctor: It found the printer but also statet, that there is some kind of communication error. It suggested a restart of the router and printer, which did not solve the problem.
Afterwards I had two options: repeat the search for anything in the system or a direct connection. I chose the option for direct connection via network and it told me to plug in a lan-cable into the printer.
Running the Print and Scan Docotor again, it repeated stated that there is a communication problem with the printer.
Do you have any ideas?

If you have 100% ping lost then your printer is not connected, wrong settings or defective. You got it 2nd hand it could be that the printers network settings are from the old user, and needs to be reset.
Google for instructions on how to reset network settings by pressing buttons and try to ping the printers IP.

Hi,
I suggest starting with resetting the network settings of the printer, unplug the Ethernet cable and reset the network settings, then plug it back:
Next, allow the printer a minute or two to connect and print a Configuration Page, then locate the current IP address and ping for it:
For your reference, here is a link to the user guide for a P1505n printer:

I unplucked the ethernet cable, turned the printer off. I pressed both buttons, started the printer and kept pressing the buttons for aroun 6 seconds as stated in this post: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printers-Archive-Read-Only/HP-LaserJet-P1505n/td-p/2690
On the configuration page it has a valid ip adress and it shows in my router settings.
It does not show up in the windows settings as an available printer.

This is the window that opens once I type the IP adress into the web browser.
I am also able to change the name so I should have access
Edit: apparently the screenshot does not show.
I get the EWS and the status is online.

That confirms your computer has connection with the printer and the source of your problems is in your Windows 10.
Follow instructions to add printer via IP address:

I searched for the printer via IP adress, added it to Windows.
But printing of a test page did not work. The printing order showed up in the queue but nothing else happened.
Nothing was printed.
I used the windows troubleshooting option but it had no conclusive problem.

I tried to install the basic driver but it just stopped working.
I downloaded the installer in another langauge and then it worked fine.
I always get an error message that some error occured during printing but it prints. In whatever mysterious ways that works...
Thank you for your time, your explanations and your help.
