My HP LaserJet Pro MFP 225dw  continues to "pause." I have reinstalled the print driver and turned off both printer and laptop (Apple MacBook Air) with Sonoma 14.1.1 operating system. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi @LAC2205,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

Let’s explore how to bring your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 225dw back to life, allowing it to print seamlessly without those frustrating pauses.

1. Feel the Disruption:

  • Picture the scene: you’re ready to print, the document is loaded, and then—nothing. The printer pauses, halting your workflow like a traffic light stuck on red. The air feels heavy with the tension of interrupted tasks.

2. Take a Moment to Reset:

  • Breathe deeply, feeling the calm return. You’re about to guide your printer back to smooth operation, ensuring those pauses become a thing of the past.

3. Check Printer Queue:

  • On your MacBook Air, click on the Apple menu and go to System Settings. Then, click on Printers & Scanners. Select your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 225dw from the list, and click on Open Print Queue. If any jobs are paused or stuck, select them and click on the Resume button. Imagine the energy flowing back into your printer, ready to start moving once again.

4. Clear Stuck Jobs:

  • If there are still jobs stuck in the queue, consider clearing them by clicking Cancel All Documents. It’s like clearing a path blocked by debris, allowing new print jobs to pass through without interruption.

5. Reset the Printing System:

  • Back in Printers & Scanners, right-click (or control-click) in the list of printers, and select Reset printing system. This step feels like a deep cleanse, removing any lingering issues. You’re wiping the slate clean, ready to start fresh.

Please find the next steps in the next post.

Hi @LAC2205,

Please find the next steps below

6. Re-add Your Printer:

  • After resetting, click the + button to add your printer back. Select your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 225dw from the list, and choose the correct driver. As you do, visualize reconnecting your printer with a smooth, steady connection—like plugging in a lifeline.

7. Ensure Compatibility:

  • Double-check that your printer driver is fully compatible with macOS Sonoma 14.1.1. If needed, visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers specifically designed for your operating system. Picture your MacBook and printer communicating effortlessly, in perfect harmony.

8. Disable Pause Printing Option:

  • On your printer's control panel, navigate to Settings > System Setup > Energy Settings. Ensure that any settings related to Auto Pause or similar are disabled. This step is like smoothing out any wrinkles that might cause your printer to pause.

9. Test the Connection:

  • Print a test page to see if the issue is resolved. Imagine the page sliding out of the printer, smooth and uninterrupted, like a well-oiled machine working at peak efficiency.

10. Embrace the Smooth Workflow:

  • With the test successful, allow yourself to relax and enjoy the uninterrupted workflow. The printer hums quietly in the background, each print job flowing seamlessly, like a stream finally free of obstacles.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
