Hello,
I recently switched to Xfinity from AT&T, and I'm facing difficulties connecting my printers wirelessly. Although they indicate a successful connection, I'm unable to print. Upon running a network test, I received the following message: "Your wireless router requires a WPA security passphrase. The passphrase configured on your HP printer does not match exactly. Run the wireless network setup to re-enter your wireless network WPA security passphrase."
I've attempted to connect using both the Push WPS and Pin methods, but the error persists. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi @Zike_45,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like the issue is related to the WPA security passphrase configured on your HP printer not matching the one required by your new Xfinity wireless router. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the problem.
Verify WPA Passphrase:
- Double-check the WPA security passphrase on your Xfinity router. Ensure that you are entering the correct passphrase on your HP printer.
- It's crucial to enter the passphrase exactly as it is on the router, including uppercase and lowercase letters.
Update Wireless Settings on the Printer:
- On your HP LaserJet Professional M1217 nfw MFP, access the control panel or the printer's web interface.
- Navigate to the wireless or network settings and choose the option to set up a new wireless connection.
- Enter the correct WPA passphrase when prompted.
Manually Enter WPA Passphrase:
- If the automatic methods are not working, try manually entering the WPA passphrase on the printer.
- In the wireless setup menu on the printer, select the option to enter the passphrase manually and input the passphrase.
Reset Printer Network Settings:
- You may want to reset the network settings on your printer and set up the wireless connection from scratch.
- Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to reset network settings.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
- Visit the HP support website, enter your printer model, and download the latest firmware if available.
Xfinity Router Settings:
- Log in to your Xfinity router's web interface using a web browser.
- Ensure that the wireless settings, particularly the security type (WPA), match the settings on your HP printer.
Contact Xfinity Support:
- If the issue persists, consider contacting Xfinity customer support for assistance. They can provide guidance on router settings and help troubleshoot any issues with the wireless connection.
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the mismatched WPA passphrase issue and establish a successful wireless connection between your HP printer and the Xfinity router.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I follow all the step by step instructions you mentioned but i am getting the same error. i downloaded the latest HP installation software and tried connecting using usb cable but it gives me an error " The printer was able to successfully connect to the wireless using the wireless credentials provided. However, this computer is unable to communicate with the printer. Please verify that the printer is on the same network as this computer. " . I even split wifi bands since most printer use 2.4 ghz and change the name and password of the 2.4 ghz network. I print the network report it shows that it was connected to the 2.4 ghz network but am still having the same error. I try using HP smart app and it not even finding the printer. I made sure the Wi-Fi on the computer is on the 2.4 ghz network.

Hi @Zike_45,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing an issue with connecting your printer to your PC.
A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware
C) Uninstall the printer software by following the steps from this link and restart the devices.
D) Install the printer software by clicking on the link again and let me know if that resolves the issue.
Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.
