Hi,
New 5g fiberoptic wifi was installed at my home. I can't connect the Laserjet M140we printer to the wifi. All other devices have been seamless in connecting, and the tech at Frontier, the provider, has referred me back to HP.
I read somewhere on this forum that this printer cannot connect to 5g - is that true?
Thanks in advance.
Lisa

Thanks for your response - the router is an EERO, and runs something called a "mesh" network, broadcasting through both 2.4 and 5 g at the same time. I understand it cannot be separated. This sounds like my one year old printer will not work with this new set up.
I appreciate any other information, thanks

Mesh networks generally have several WiFi units. Each unit has different subnet. I am no expert on networking and do not have a mesh system but I know that if the printer is on one network and the PC on another, windows will search for a new printer only on the local network and need to be told to look on other networks.
It appears that EERO no longer has community support: notice the word "sunset". This generally happens when complaints get too high to manage but this is just a guess.
The most expedient way to solve the mesh problem is to have the PC print directly to the printer using W-Fi direct.
This video shows how to set up WiFi direct on your printer

full feature software
If your location is like an office and the printer is not always near the PC then Wi-Fi direct may not work. This gets more complicated as the printer needs to be identified as to which network it is on. I can help you. Let me know if you need the modem/router connection instead of the Wi-Fi direct.
if you need to reset the printer but his is usually not needed.

Thanks again for your help. I am not able to access the password for the WiFi Direct - the configuration page showed wifi direct as disabled/no IP address/no password. I tried the password (this is a long story shorter...) from my previous Frontier router upgrade in December, which I also tried earlier in this process, and it was "incorrect". Tried all the things - plugging and unplugging, into a wall vs surge protector, holding various buttons and combos. Was optimistic watching the video, which was very good, then ...no luck. Thinking the Wifi direct is disabled due to the 5G?
Anyway, thanks so much again. Since I am under warranty, I am going to call tech support.

Update:
HP Support via phone convo was able to help me get the printer connected. I had not read or watched any of the strategies anywhere else. Success was after holding the down arrow and the x, until "NU" came up on the screen, then repeat of more typical steps from there.
Thanks-

Yes, that what the reset method I listed.
I am glad you got it working. Frequently there is a long wait before getting thorough to phone support.
